PM Discussed with Residents of Robe

Robe May 05/2018 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed discussed with residents of Robe town on issues various that hinder development. Lack of good governance, rent seeking and corruption are mentioned as the major bottlenecks to the development of the area, according to the residents. Speaking at the panel discussion the premier called up on the people of Robe to work hard in order to address these problems, as it is hard for the government to rectify these things alone. The Premier stressed the need for the people to be part of the solution by exposing the root causes and individuals who engaged in these practices. “We have to develop our unity and solidarity to successfully address the challenges the people are facing,” the premier pointed out. Abiy also added that serving the people effectively and working for the development of the nation is the only way to lift out the people from poverty. “Stealing is not our culture, in this regard the people should work hard to expose these who are engaged in illegally using the public resource,” the premier noted adding that the issue of good governance should be given due attention. The primer also called up on the Abba Gedas and religious leaders to work in collaboration with the public and government to address these problems. The Chief Administrator of Oromia regional State Lema Meggersa said, “Our youth are our resource and our strength, therefore, we should work in collaboration with them.” He noted that ensuring the participation of the youth is key to bring inclusive change in overall economic activities of the country. He also added that the public should work in unison and respecting differences to rectify bad practices. “Our unity is also essential to identify the root causes of good governance problems”. As the Premier, Lemma also stressed on the importance of strengthening unity among the community is the only means to solve the challenges that t
