Ethiopia to Start Issuing Visa on Arrival for Fellow Africans this Ethiopian Fiscal Year

Addis Ababa October 08/2018 Ethiopia will allow citizens of other African countries to enter the country by issuing visa on arrival beginning this Ethiopian fiscal year, President Mulatu disclosed. The president made the announcement in his speech to the joint session of the House of People’s Representatives and the House of Federation today. The country is doing this in order to contribute its part to the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement, Mulatu said. All African countries are expected to allow African travelers to enter their respective countries by issuing visa on arrival by 2023. Ethiopia, with swift and modern system, will permit Africans to enter into the country by securing visa upon arrival, according to the president. The visa on arrival arrangement would facilitate tourism, economic, and diplomatic relations. He further added that legal measures will, however, be taken around borders to sustain peace and development integration.
