HPR Elects Tagesse Chafo as its New Speaker

Addis Ababa October 18/2018 The House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) has elected Tagesse Chafo as its new speaker. He replaces Muferiat Kamil, who was appointed as Minister of Peace in the new cabinet of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. The new speaker, Tagesse Chafo, was serving as Public Service and Human Resource Minister till his appointment. Tagesse Chafo belongs to the Southern Ethiopia Peoples Democratic Movement (SEPDM), one of the constituent bodies of the ruling Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF).
