Premier’s Visit to Hawassa Step towards Alleviating Public Grievances: Residents
Hawassa April 26/2018 Residents of Hawassa city and its vicinity hope that the visit of Prime Minister Abiy Ahimed would help in finding solutions to public grievances of the region. The residents whom ENA has talked with expressed contentment in the visit of the Premier with the hope that his visit would be important in addressing challenges. After he sworn-in, P’M Abiy in his acceptance speech to the parliament address to the parliament underlined that the future is a time of ‘love and clemency’, it was recalled. Speaking to a crowd of more than 60,000 at the Hawassa Stadium this morning, Abiy called on the people, particularly the youth to work hard for national development and democracy. The residents are jovial that his visit will contribute a major role in overcoming development bottlenecks in the region. “I am happy by the speech he has made today; the Prime Minister talked about women and I am sure all the strong and beautiful Ethiopian women will do everything together,” said Mekides Wood, an Ethiopian Diaspora from England. Mekides, who engages in the hospitality industry, said “I am happy with restoration of peace and stability in the country”. She also called on the Ethiopian Diaspora to come and contribute to the development endeavors of the country, adding that. Eden Amilesom who lives in Frankfurt Germany is also one of the attendants at stadium to welcome Prime Minister Abiy. Glad with the visit of the Prime Minister, Eden didn’t spent time to join the huge crowd in the stadium to express her excitement and support for the new Premier. The people should stand by the side of the Prime Minister so as to sustain peace and development across the country. Yimam Wulchafo, 74, from the vicinity of the Hawassa town, expressed joy about the visit of the Prime Minister. “Though I am handicapped, nothing prevented me from being tied to the crowed to show my solidarity for Prime Minister Abiy because he is striving for peace and unity of the country.” For Hejiso Gechamo, 81, from the city of Hawassa the new Premier should focus on the issue good governance and unity. He said “Good governance and national unity should be at the center of his agenda.” In the afternoon, the Prime Minister is expected to discuss with residents of the town and its vicinity and representatives from other parts of the region and address some questions this afternoon.
