Guangzhou Automobile Corporation, Huajian Group Sign Agreement to Work in Partnership

Addis Ababa, April 12/2024 (ENA)  Guangzhou Automobile Corporation (GAC), one of the largest electric vehicle producers, signed a cooperation and Memorandum of Understanding agreement with Huajian Group, a company that operate in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Investment Commission Deputy Commissioner, Zeleke Temesgen, Ambassador of Ethiopia in China, Tefera Derbew, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, Tan Ping, officials of the companies and several others attended the signing ceremony held in Guangzhou, China.

Delegates of the Ethiopian government, the Guangzhou Municipal Government and the Huajian Group also visited GAC Group, GAC R&D Center and GAC MOTOR.  During the signing ceremony, ambassador Tefera said, the two countries have elevated their diplomatic relations to an “All Weather Strategic Partnership” and are cooperating to create a better and mutually beneficial relationship. 
He also said the cooperation between the two countries will “boost investment and trade relations between Ethiopia and China."

Deputy Commissioner of Investment Commission, Zeleke Temesgen stated that the agreement between GAC and Huajian Group was signed when Ethiopia has shown its commitment and interest to further expand electric vehicles in its local market. 

The Deputy Commissioner also reiterated commitment to provide full support to GAC so that it can set up its investment in Ethiopia.
