Ethiopian Air Force Poised Pivotal to Foster African Air forces Collaboration, Says Lt. Gen. Yilma

Addis Ababa November 27/2024 (ENA ) The Ethiopian Air Force said it would play a pivotal role in strengthening African air forces cooperation and urged African countries to work together to enhance their technological capabilities.
The second African Air Force Forum was held today at the Ethiopian Air Force Base in Bishoftu bringing together air force commanders from various African nations.
The event also marked the commemoration of the 89th founding anniversary of the Ethiopian Air Force.
The forum brought together air force commanders from Morocco, Uganda, Tanzania, Mali, Kenya, Rwanda, Djibouti, Nigeria, Congo Brazzaville, and Niger.
During the occasion , Ethiopian Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Yilma Merdasa has called on African countries to work together to enhance their air technology capabilities.
“Ethiopia, as the first African country to acquire air force technology 89 years ago, is well-positioned to lead this initiative,” Lt. Gen. Yilma said, adding that “it has undergone significant reforms and is making strides in its modernization efforts”.
The African Air Force Forum aims to foster cooperation and experience sharing among African air forces.
By establishing an African Air Force Association, Ethiopia seeks to strengthen regional collaboration and promote a common approach to air force education and training, it was learnt.
The commander emphasized that the rapid advancements in air force technology underpins the Ethiopian Air Force for adaptation and innovation to protect the nation's sovereignty.
He underscored the importance of regional cooperation for enhanced capabilities of African air forces.
The Ethiopian Air Force is committed to collaborating with its African counterparts to enhance technological capabilities and human resource development, thereby bolstering the collective strength of African air forces.
Through joint efforts, African countries can enhance their air force capabilities, improve airspace security, and contribute to regional peace and stability.
