Foreign Minister Gedion Confers with UN Personal Envoy for Sudan

Addis Ababa December 24/2024 (ENA)—Ethiopia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Gedion Timothewos received Ramtane Lamamra, the UN Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General for Sudan in the early hours of this afternoon.  

Gedion expressed Ethiopia's support for the UN Personal Envoy's efforts to bring peace to Sudan.

The Minister emphasized the importance of directing the various peace initiatives launched by different parties toward a unified and effective outcome.

On his part, The UN Personal Envoy for Sudan,  Ramtane Lamamra highlighted the urgent need to end the humanitarian crisis caused by the conflict in Sudan and emphasized the importance of working to restore peace to the country.

The Special Envoy also noted that countries like Ethiopia have a significant role to play in achieving this goal.
