ECX Launches Online Trading

Addis Ababa, January 23, 2025 (ENA) — The Ethiopian Commodity Exchange (ECX) has today officially launched online Trading system and it laid down a cornerstone for the construction of a 24-story multipurpose headquarters.

Trade and Regional Integration Minister Kassahun Gofe laid the foundation along with CEO of ECX Wondimagegnehu Negera .

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the construction of the headquarters would be equipped with modern technology to provide competitive services.

Concerted efforts will also made to modernize the market system, foster foreign trade and enhance competitiveness, the minister said.  

 

CEO of ECX, Wondimagegnehu Negera on his part said the direct online trading system aims to foster accessibility, transparency, maintain quality of products in the process of trade exchange.

It will also provide fast services to sellers and buyers, they can exchange from where they are, home or abroad, the CEO added.

The newly launched online trade service will  also make the trading system inclusive, accessibility, competitive through updated modern market system, he underlined.

 

Noting that ECX has been providing exchange services of 26 products between the producers and customers, he pointed out that it is strengthening effort in modernizing the trading system and bringing new products to the system.

Implementing online direct trading at ECX is part of Digital Ethiopia 2025 initiative, he added. 

With respect to the  newly launched logo, he said, as the  ECX diversified its products addition such as  mining  and  industrial products, the old logo will be replaced by a new one.
