DPM Temesgen Says Public Service, Administration Reform Crucial to Address Long-standing Demands of Citizens

Addis Ababa, April 4, 2025 (ENA) -- The reform of public service and administration is crucial in addressing the long-standing demands of the Ethiopian people, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh said.
The deputy premier made the remark during the launch of senior federal government leadership training program under the theme "'Excellence in People-Centered Service".
In his opening address, Temesgen said Ethiopia's reform has been engaged in building strong institutions and providing adequate public services.
He noted that the government has initiated significant reforms aimed at addressing long-standing challenges, with the ultimate goal of ensuring equal access to services for all citizens.
Reforming public service and administration is not a choice but a fundamental responsibility to build a prosperous and exemplary nation for the African continent, the deputy prime minister added.
Temesgen said the training launched today represents a major step toward the practical implementation of these reforms.
The government has implemented a three-phase approach, with 8 institutions currently in the initial phase of transition, he said, adding that strong institutions and a functional, accessible public service are essential to build a robust state.
Collective effort will be key to success during this critical time when Ethiopia is undergoing a transformative process, the deputy premier underscored.
The training program focuses on the policies and laws essential for building an effective government service and administration system that will also address the challenges encountered during the reform and the solutions being implemented to overcome them.
