AUC Chairperson Confers with Gates Foundation African Director

Addis Ababa, April 22, 2025 (ENA) --- The African Union Commission Chairperson,  Mahamoud Ali Youssouf  met with the Africa Director for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Paulin Basinga to discuss strengthening the AUC–Gates Foundation partnership.

The focus of their discussion was health related issues of the continent, according to the African Union.  

Key topics included health financing, operationalizing the Africa Medicines Agency, Africa CDC, advancing the continent's medicine and vaccine production sovereignty, as well as better aligning partner investments with Africa’s health priorities.

The Foundation supports a range of programs that work to improve health and nutrition; gender equality; disease prevention, treatment, and research; water, sanitation, and hygiene; agriculture; and financial services for the poor in various African countries.
