Kasanchis Segment of Corridor Dev’t Project Result of Collective Commitment, Hardwork, Says Mayor Adanech

Addis Ababa, April 24, 2025 (ENA) -- The first phase completion of Kasanchis segment of corridor development project in Addis Ababa is the result of the collective commitment and hard work among the government and the private sectors, Mayor of Addis Ababa City Administration, Adanech Abiebie remarked.

Speaking at the banquet last night organized in recognition for those who have been engaged in supporting the project, Mayor of Addis Ababa City Administration, Adanech Abiebie said the first phase  of Kasanchis segment of the corridor development project has been completed with the required standard in five months period through collaboration among government institutions and the private sector.


 

The project demonstrated the potential of collective commitment and hard work to realize such types of projects with the required quality in the short span of five months, she added.

It marked a significant milestone to modernize urban landscape into smart city, she noted.

Emphasizing that the corridor development project aimed at improving living standards for all residents of the city, the Mayor pointed out that Kasanchis area was a dilapidated area that was not comfortable for the residents; but the revitalization effort enabled the area to undergo a remarkable transformation with the addition of  aesthetic appeal to the city.

In an effort for ensuring dignified living conditions, the residents of Kasanchis area have been relocated into new and more conducive environments with better amenities and a sense of community in their new surroundings.


 

According to the mayor, the relocation process was handled with care, focusing on humane resettlement practices.

Moreover, the renewed infrastructure and urban design in Kasanchis area fosters community engagement and social cohesion. Modern public spaces, parks, and recreational facilities are part of the development plan, encouraging residents to engage with one another and participate in community activities.

The completion of Kasanchis transformation in a remarkably short time would lay a solid foundation for future smart city initiatives, Mayor Adanech stressed, noting that the Kasanchis segment of corridor development embodies the vision for green, clean, and modern urban centers, which is essential for accommodating the growing population of Addis Ababa.


 

She emphasized that such projects are vital for the overall advancement of the city, stating that the progress seen in Kasanchis  renews hope, especially for the younger generation as the city transforms, it sets a precedent for future developments throughout Addis Ababa and beyond.
