Addis Ababa, April 25, 2025 (ENA) -- China’s Vice-Chairman of CPPCC Gao Yunlong has reaffirmed China’s interest in expanding mutually beneficial economic ties as Chinese businesses see Ethiopia as a strategic destination for investment in Africa.
A high-level delegation led by Gao Yunlong, Vice-Chairman of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and President of the All-China Chamber of Industry and Commerce (ACCIC), paid an official visit to the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC).
Gao Yunlong and his delegation were warmly received by Zeleke Temesgen, Commissioner of the Ethiopian Investment Commission, along with senior officials from the Commission, according to EIC.
The two sides held productive discussions focused on enhancing investment cooperation between Ethiopia and China, particularly in areas of industrial development, infrastructure, and manufacturing.
During the occasion, EIC Commissioner Zeleke Temesgen highlighted Ethiopia’s reform-driven investment climate, emphasizing priority sectors and the government’s commitment to supporting foreign investors.
“The Ethiopian government is actively working to foster a more competitive and transparent investment environment. We believe this visit will further strengthen the longstanding partnership between Ethiopia and China,” said Commissioner Zeleke.
Zeleke further highlighted Ethiopia’s commitment to enhancing its investment climate and encouraged Chinese investors to take part in the upcoming Invest Ethiopia Forum, which will be held on May 12–13 in Addis Ababa.
Vice-Chairman Gao Yunlong expressed appreciation for Ethiopia’s hospitality and reaffirmed China’s interest in expanding mutually beneficial economic ties.
He noted that Chinese businesses see Ethiopia as a strategic destination for investment in Africa.
Following the bilateral meeting, the Chinese delegation participated in a Business-to-Business (B2B) session with prominent Ethiopian investors and private sector representatives.
The forum served as a platform for direct engagement, exchange of business ideas, and exploration of joint ventures and partnerships.
The visit underscores the growing economic cooperation between Ethiopia and China and is expected to pave the way for increased trade and investment flows between the two countries.
