Consolidated Law Enforcement Measures Underway in Amhara Region

Addis Ababa, April 25, 2025 (ENA) --- The Amhara Regional State Peace and Security Bureau announced that consolidated law enforcement measures are being taken against the extremist group that has been kidnapping and murdering citizens, disrupting the educational system, and abusing teachers in the region.

Speaking to ENA, the Amhara Peace and Security Bureau Head Eshete Yesuf said the government has been making repeated calls for peace, urging the group to abandon its destructive path. And the call for peace still stands, he added.

The extremist group that aims to destroy the country has been committing killings, looting, and destruction of in various parts of the region, the head pointed out.

Realizing the evil intentions of the extremist group and accepting the government's call for peace, Eshete revealed that many of them have returned to peaceful life.

Concurrently, coordinated and intensified law enforcement measures are being taken against the extremist group that continues carrying out killings, looting and kidnaping. 

Beyond disrupting the delivery of fertilizers to different parts of the region and disrupting other social services, the extremist group has prevented farmers from cultivating their lands and taking products to market.

According to the head, religious fathers and elders have also been killed and abducted.

The extremist group has in particular demonstrated its anti-people stance by throwing grenades on schools, killing teachers, and preventing children from going to school.

Therefore, irreversible measure has been taken on the anti-people extremist group, Eshete revealed.

As a result, the group is in disarray and desperately trying to loot and kidnap people, he said, adding that law enforcement measures have been taken on the group in collaboration with the people. 

Consequently, peace is being restored in many areas and fertilizers as well as agricultural inputs are being provided for farmers.

The head further revealed that the extremists under the sustained security measure are fighting  among themselves.

The law enforcement measures being taken in all parts of the region have been enjoying public support and cooperation.
